Xilin Community Development Association
The Xilin Community Development Association, established in 1992, is the most active and oldest community organization in the Ciyakang tribe.
Currently, it has over 300 members and is managed by a chairperson, board members, and staff. The association regularly organizes community activities and engages in cultural and historical research, elder care, youth empowerment, and social welfare initiatives. Specific projects they have carried out include walking events, road running races, concerts, specialty markets, local publications, and weaving exhibitions.
The most notable feature of the association is its high level of youth participation. Many of the organization’s key positions are held by young people, who work together with the elder generation to promote local culture and document the community’s history.
If you have the chance to visit the Community Development Association and see the energetic youth bustling around, don’t forget to offer them your warmest smile and support!
Ciyakang Cultural Health Station
In terms of cultural care, the association’s leaders have worked collaboratively to advance social services. In 2021, the Cultural Health Station was established to focus on the relatively vulnerable groups in the tribe, such as elders and children. The aim is to deeply root local culture, document the development of traditional Truku craftsmanship, and create a senior care model that aligns with local needs.
Currently, 20 elders regularly participate in the station’s activities, including community classes, fitness programs, and communal meals. Elders aged 55 and above with Indigenous status are warmly invited to join this essential space designed to delay aging and prevent disability.
